Can't hardly wait

Ordered my pattern yesterday. I'm playing with yarn colors. Decisions, decisions! I'm very anxious to get started and look forward to everyone's results.

My Pattern Arrived!

My pattern arrived today! It is beautifully presented and now the fun can really begin.

I did run to the LYS yesterday and have already chosen a base color for pair #2. : )

As soon as I get a bit of a start, I'll post pictures here and on my blog.

I'm looking forward to getting my pattern in the mail today or tomorrow. Good thing we are getting started in April. This means I may actually have the gloves finished in time to wear them next winter :) It has been fun to see everyone's beautiful color combinations. Margaret

Glove Pattern

Ordered my pattern today. Sorry about the mix up but I'm getting older and can't find things that are right in front of me.
Also order the yarn today. Cannot wait to start.

Just wanted to pop in and say hi. I am Kimberly aka Woven ~N~ Spun. I still need to order my pattern (bad me) and get my yarn. Hopefully I can get all my ducks in a row and get started on these really great gloves soon. Thanks to Shelly in OK for the info on this KAL.

Colors?

Here's a picture of my current color combo consideration. On the left is the Colinette Jitterbug Florentina colorway and on the right is Opal in a periwinkle color. The picture doesn't represent the true colors, but it's fairly close. And, there is a little bit of periwinkle color in the Florentina colorway.

I did a little ribbing swatch.

Could you give me your honest opinions about this color combination as a possibility for the gloves? Also, the Opal sock yarn is a bit thinner than the Jitterbug. I believe Karen said her yarn choices for her teal gloves were of different thicknesses, so hopefully this isn't a problem.

How much Yarn

I know everyone is busy trying to find just the right yarn for these gloves. Karen, I believe I like the teal ones better than the purple and purple is my fav color. So how yarn will we need cos I know Tracy was a little concerned she may not have enough? I still dont think the red/variegated I chose shows off the pattern but I am not changing again, I will just be on the hunt for my own pair next. My mom was over last night and saw her gloves (although she does not know they are hers) and she LOVED them, so that is all that counts. I am still thinking I need one for each month of winter with the differnt month themes on them and since it may snow this week here I will need a pair for Easter as well.

Once again Karen thank you, my hats off to you for letting us share your very gifted talent of creating these most beautiful gloves.

Off to knit, we are pretty much bossless today and like I said I dont have one, so I got a palm to work on.

Abby, your progress is amazing! Don't let these painted ladies get you in trouble at work, though.

For those of you who are still selecting yarns, I thought I would share my most recent glove. I used Lorna's Laces for the multi hued hand dye and Koigu for the pattern color. I seem to like pair up a really light weight sock yarn with the heftier Koigu merino. This glove has a shorter cuff than the first pair (just start the thumb gusset sooner). I was very worried about the dark colors together, but I think they worked pretty well, don't you?

You Can Buy Gloves at Wal-Mart

Yes you can but mine are the only ones in the world like it. Dont you hate it when people say that. I was working on my gloves at work, shhh dont tell anyone although I dont have a boss currently and when I get one they will be in Dallas. OH darn. Most were in awe and the guys asked lots of questions. So here is my color change. The white color has specks of red/green and a little blue and actually looks almost grey. They are my mom's--red her fav color and her winter coat is grey and a black one as well. She wears a red scarf and gloves I made her two years ago.

I am seeing a black and white pair, how sharp would that be, a black/orange pair for my fav day, red/green for xmas and the list goes on and on. I know these are going to be a pattern I use a lot, I think a new pair every year for me. Yep I think so.

I cant wait til you all get your pattern and start posting. I know you are excited as I am. I can't stand to put them down.

Off to start on the palm. Tracy I think Harry and Lord V are the same, we shall see, cant wait til July.

Looking back:
The glove soaks up some Texas sunshine during our little detour at the Holiday Inn.
(This was March 27)

Okay, here's the real information on my yarn: Koigu KPPPM P105D and KPM 1200.
How totally unromantic is that? I prefer to think of them as Wildflowers and Sunshine.

Karen noticed that my two first fingers were a little short and suggested re-opening them so I could add a little length after finishing the other fingers. Now I can settle the joins between fingers all the way down. This is an addendum she meant to pass on to everyone: LEAVE FINGER ENDS OPEN UNTIL YOU'VE DONE AT LEAST 3 FINGERS. She will elaborate on this, and I think we have at least a few more hours before Abby gets fingers done...

Abby, I agree with your decision to re-think your colors. This pattern is so great, the finished product has to make you gasp, and if the colors aren't doing it for you..... You're a woman of fortitude!

"Shocking" contrast....

Karen, forgive me if I misquote you, but I believe that is what you suggested to me in our phone conversation this morning...that there needed to be "shocking" contrast between the solid and the multi yarn. I am struggling, and wondered if I could get opinions.

I am a brown/beige person. My original plan was to combine one of these browns with a multi, one of many that I have, that have oranges, beiges, but also some browns in them. Just is not going to work. So: What do you think about these combos: Honesty is requested! I am leaning most toward the middle one, but it is the least shocking of them all. Karen thought that the "Easter" colors (Petticoat in the middle) might look good with the dark green (grass). I have paired the dark green with the purple/green/yellow combo. The brown above the blue is a very dark brown, although it looks somewhat burgandy in the photo - it is not.

Good thing I have a few days to wait on the pattern. My head is spinning.

Karen - it was very nice visiting with you this morning. Thanks for your opinions and guidance. And, to everyone else - thanks if you can help me out with this!! If I need to go to the LYS - tell me - I can do that too!!
